It is an extremely happy time when you welcome a new furry member into your family, but with this bundle of joy comes great responsibility! This list is truly endless, but here are a few of our tips we rounded up just to begin.
.) All dogs are gentle at heart, the way they are treated reflects the way they will grow up! Always be patient with your puppy or dog. Until they officially learn what it is you are teaching them- there will be mistakes!
.) Always clean up after your dog. Just as a child, messes will be made.. For your safety and the safety of your pup- you don’t want a dirty home with things lying around. Especially things they could choke on! This is an important tip to keep in mind.
.) It is never acceptable to hit your dog. Punishment and hitting them are two different things! Put them for a time-out. The message will be the same with less damage done. Dogs are easy to train if done right. They want to please you!
.) Take your dog on walks. It is good for their physical and mental health to exercise and see new things! The same boring landscape of the yard will get old.
.) Play with your dog! Aside from training and walking- playing is crucial to your relationship with your pup. They will love you for it, as well as enjoy the attention!
.) Reward your dog. This is as simple as giving him a treat and giving him a big, happy “Good Boy!”. After any tricks or simple actions it’s always nice to reward them and let them know how much they are loved.
.) Hydration! Dogs need plenty of fresh water, make sure you freshen up their bowl a couple of times a day!
.) Make a schedule. The best tip for training your dog is to have a certain time for walks, dinner, etc. This will result in a well-behaved dog.
